Swedish Meatballs

1 T. onion
1/3 c. bread crumbs
2/3 c. water, milk or cream
¾ lb. Ground beef (can be all beef)
¼ lb. Ground pork
½ tsp. Sugar
1/8 tsp. ginger
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. allspice
1 ½ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. pepper
1 egg optional

Directions

Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Divide into small balls about 1 ½ inches. Put on cookie sheets and bake at 350 degrees for about 20–30 minutes or until done. (You can also fry in a pan on top of the stove.)
Sauce:
In a pan, put 1 cup of beef stock (beef consommé, soup or beef bouillon) and bring to a boil. (More if desired.) To about ¼ cup of water or more—add 2 Tbsp. of flour and make a paste (to each cup of liquid used –– add 2 Tbsp. of flour for the gravy sauce) Add this paste to the hot liquid and stir until thickened. Add the meatballs to this gravy. Good on noodles or on the side with potatoes.
